Babe Ruth est un groupe de rock progressif des années 70. Formé en Angleterre, ce groupe mené par la chanteuse Janita Haan et le guitariste Alan Shacklock, dont le nom fait référence au légendaire joueur de baseball, eut un certain succès en Amérique du Nord grâce à leur premier album, First Base, et plus encore avec “The Mexican”, leur titre phare. Ce titre apparaissant sur l' album First Base reprend un thème de la bande originale du western “ Pour quelques dollars de plus” (Per qualche dollaro in più) de Sergio Leone composée par Ennio Morricone.
A noter que le groupe eut plus de succes en Amérique, notamment au Canada qu'en Angleterre.
